CDA is in growth mode as we look to add staff. We have plans to move into a larger office by the end of the year and craft a brand video focused on our clients and the work we do for them. The studio is humming with exciting projects as we continue to refine and grow our inherently collaborative approach to practicing architecture.
Chris Dawson Architect (CDA) was recognized with a State Design Award for our Amber Road Trekking Cabins design.
Chris was honored and thoroughly enjoyed serving as the jury chair for AIA New York State’s 2019 Design Awards program with fellow jurors, Peter Bohlin, FAIA, Joe Biondo, FAIA, and interior designer Jen Zaborney.
5 of the 7 AIA volunteers work(ed) for CDA and donated time equal to $37,000 to the New Cumberland Revitalization effort via AIA Pennsylvania’s Design for Better pilot project including current staff; Chris Dawson, Sara Sweeney, & Jim White. We coordinated the design workshops, provided graphic documentation, developed design concepts, and presented the ideas to the broader community over a period of 6 months.
Peter Q. Bohlin, FAIA was the speaker on November 7th for the AIA Central PA Fall Lecture. Peter’s presentation titled “Nature of Circumstance” provided an overview of his work as one of the founding principals of Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, which began practice as Bohlin and Powell in 1965 and now includes offices in Wilkes-Barre, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Seattle, San Francisco and New York City.
We have grown to an office of 8 with 4 experienced licensed architects. CDA has also been working on refining the quality of our service by surveying clients and employees – taking stock of the office as we approach our 10 year anniversary this fall. We work hard to make architecture easy to understand and bring to life by taking an inherently collaborative approach, sharing ideas early and often, and removing the mystery from the process.
CDA, now in our 10th year, continues to be driven to find clients, staff, & collaborators who aspire to bring more beauty into our world’s built environment. I am grateful to have had the good fortune to be able to surround myself with talented professionals and receptive clients striving for the power that comes from clarity and authenticity in architecture.
New CDA hire & recent Penn State School of Architecture graduate, Darius Hopkins is featured in a Central Penn Business Journal article on diversity and inclusion in the architectural profession. Even in the relatively small Central PA market, CDA is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
